Events:
Paul's Club, a support group for the male caregivers of children with a disability will be on October 3rd, at 6pm, at Abby's Pizza.
A bunch of us mom’s are getting together October 4^th for the First Friday Art Walk at 6:30. You can check out the Event on the Autism Mom’s facebook page.

Redmond Cross Dissability Support Group will be October 8th at 6pm at the Manzanita Building. Childcare is provided free of charge.

Our next get together will be in Bend at Kate's house on October 13^th at 2pm. Punch, Finger Foods, and great conversation. RSVP for the event on the Autism Mom’s facebook page.

The Bend Cross Disability Support Group, The Latino Cross Disability Support Group, and Sibz Knect will be October 22nd at 6pm at Abilitree with childcare provided free of charge.

There is talk of getting together and taking the kiddos to the Central Oregon Pumpkin Co. at the Smith Rock Range this month. If your interested, let us know!

On September 23rd FACT is doing another “Understanding the IEP” training at 5:30PM at the Bend LaPine Administration Building downtown, across the street from the Library.

The Central Oregon Autism Moms is having a lunch September 24^th at noon at Amanda’s house in Redmond. This is a kid friendly event, just let either Melissa or Amanda know. There will be plenty of food and stuff for the little ones to do.

American Sign Language classes start Setpember 25^th at the Alyce Hatch Center. They will be every Wednesday, throughout the school year. The Intermediate class will be from 4pm-6pm, and the Beginning class from 5:10-6:10pm. The cost is free. If you are interest you can contact the Central Oregon Disability Support Network.

September 24^th is the Bend Cross Disbility Support Group and the Latino Cross Disability Support Group, at 6pm at Abilitree. Childcare is provided. Also on the 24^th, at Abilitree in Bend that night is the Sibz Knect. A support group run for sibs by sibs.

On September 26^th, Connecting Point will be doing a iPads, iTouch and apps class from 5:30pm to 7pm at their store on Franklin Ave.

A Group Music Therapy Session for children with special needs is happening at on September 28^th at the Central Oregon Disability Support Network office at 2680 NE Twin Knolls Drive. From 10 to 10:45am is the 2 to 7 year old ogroup, and from 11:15 to noon is 8 years old and above. If you are interested in joining, contact CODSN.

Project Connect is happening Saturday, September 28^th from 9am to 3pm at the Hooker Creek Event Center. This is a one day- one-stop event for guest who are low income, homeless or at near homelessness. Guests can receive medical and mental health services, urgent dental care, and more at no cost. If you would be interested in volunteering to help out with this event go to www.volunteerconnectnow.org, and click on Project Connect. Or, you can help man the Central Oregon Disability Support Group booth by contacting CODSN.

And Dads, don’t forget Pauls Club, a support group for the male caregivers of children with disability will be on October 3^rd, at 6pm at Abby’s Pizza.

I saw this hashtag floating around twitter today, and proposed the question to our moms. Here are the hilarous respones:

...You can quote entire scenes from your child's favorite movie, but have never seen it all the way through.

.....you can recognize a fellow autism family, adults have not enough sleep kids are flopping arms and reciting movies or running circles around everyone

...you buy costumes when it's not Halloween, and your child wears them EVERYWHERE.

... your kid has more electronic gadgets than you do.

....your 6 yr old asd kid still thinks he needs to eat baby food, but only if you feed him, not by himself.

....your kid can program and launch a NASA space ship to the moon, but is not able to tie his own shoe or brush his own teeth.

....can beat grown men at video games and make them cry. (Lol)

....you know what PECS are. (Not the male version the educational version)

....you know what OT, ST, PT, IEP, PECS, and PDD-NOS are without googling them.

... when you have to translate those ^ acronyms for your clueless friends.

... if you've heard of, and researched the changes to the DSM and you aren't a healthcare professional.

...You hear there's a sale on Melatonin and drop everything to run and get a cart full!

...You hear there's a sale on wine and you drop everything to run and get a bigger cart full!

...Your smart phone is missing and you know exactly who has it! And you have no idea that the site that it's set to even existed!

....you go to McDonald's and order a cheeseburger happy meal but plain with no meat on the burger. Just bread and cheese.

...Your smart phone has suddenly started speaking with a British accent.

...your child calls 911 from a non activated cell phone so many times you get a visit from the police.

..Your facebook gets updated with strange, incoherent status updates. And your friends all comment, "Hello, *insert child's name here*"

...you get random FaceTime calls from said asd kid and/or kids.
